Administrative Director / Board Secretary

When Lisa moved to Central Pennsylvania in 1999, she took time away from her physical therapy career to focus on restoring the land associated with her family's "new" 1863-era farmhouse. Her passion for farming took off when she found PASA.

Michele Spencer

Membership Director

Michele Spencer joined the PASA staff in 2003 on a part-time basis as membership and on-farm research assistant, as well as newsletter editor. She currently is Membership Director overseeing PASA member recruitment & retention, as well as communications via the website and newsletter.

Leah Smith completed her MS in rural sociology from Ohio State University, before joining the PASA staff in July 2009. Leah has found an intersection to her interests in community, culture, and the environment in the fields of sustainable agriculture and local food system development.

Jean Najjar

Community Outreach Associate

Since the fall of 2009, Jean has been organizing the annual Benefit Auction at the Farming for the Future Conference. In June 2013, she joined our staff full time as Community Outreach Associate adding Business membership and Good Food Neighborhood® to her fundraising responsibilities of the Benefit Auction and Bike Fresh Centre County.

Conference Manager/ Buy Fresh Buy Local® Centre Co. Chapter Coordinator

Kristin Hoy joined the PASA staff in 2007 as a seasonal conference employee. She is currently the Conference Manager, overseeing the planning of PASA's annual Farming for the Future Conference.

Development Coordinator

Jaunette joined the PASA staff on a full-time basis in October. She has over 27 years experience working for a defense contractor as an administrative assistant and financial analysis professional, and two years experience as an administrative assistant supporting the Vice President of Product Line Management at a global communications technology company.

After joining PASA as a member in 2005, Jessy Swisher came to serve on the staff in September 2014 as Western PA Program Coordinator.  She holds a B.A. from Allegheny College in Spanish and Latin American Studies.

Nicole Shaffer

Accounting Manager

Nicole Shaffer joined the PASA staff on a full-time basis in October 2014. She was born and raised in central Pennsylvania. In addition, she is a graduate of both the County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ (AAS – Agricultural Business) and Lock Haven University (BS – Education) and has many years of diverse Accounting experience.

Helen Kollar-McArthur

Educational Programs Assistant

Helen Kollar-McArthur began her work at PASA in the late summer of 2013 as a Conference Assistant. She is now Educational Program Assistant and works on the development and oversight of educational program funding streams, content and operations. In addition to this Helen continues to work as a Conference Assistant and oversees the coordination of the daily operations of the FoodRoutes Network LLC.

Executive Director

Brian Snyder is Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) and also the FoodRoutes Network LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PASA that runs the Buy Fresh Buy Local® program nationally. PASA is one of the largest sustainable farming organizations in the country, with over 6,000 mostly farmer members and more than 30,000 total participants.
