Information About How 30 Teachers Can Attend The PASA Conference And Earn Act 48 Credit Hours For FREE!
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) awarded the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) a grant to help support this pre-conference track for 30 teachers. This educational opportunity is dedicated to empowering teachers to teach sustainable agriculture concepts in the classroom. To participate in this pre-conference track, you must be a currently certified Pennsylvania K-8 teacher. (Sorry, but this track is not available to home-school teachers.)
Thursday February 1st Pre-Conference Content Our instructors, Claire and Rusty Orner of Quiet Creek Herb Farm and School of Country Living, have been teaching agricultural concepts to teachers for many years. During two 3-hour workshops, the Orners will address topics such as integrated pest management, soil food web, season extension and worm composting. Teachers will even learn how to maintain a worm bin in their classrooms! Teachers will have the opportunity to earn six (6) Act 48 credit hours for attending the pre-conference track.

The Main Farming for the Future Conference Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3 Teachers have the opportunity to continue their learning by registering for the main Farming for the Future conference program February 2 and 3. The Farming for the Future conference is PASA’s signature event and annually attracts over 1600 participants! This year’s program will feature over 75 workshops and three inspirational keynote addresses. Teachers may opt to stay for either or both days of the main conference, with the opportunity to earn an additional thirteen (13) Act 48 credit hours. Teachers in this program who choose to stay for the Friday/Saturday portion of the conference will have their registration fee waived but must purchase meals and other services (such as child care) on their own.
The Cost, Post-Event Survey Registration for the 30 teachers accepted into the program will be waived. However, teachers will be required to complete a post-event survey. It is imperative teachers complete this survey so that PASA can fulfill obligations to the event’s funding agency, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection
