Executive Director Message

Thank you so much for checking out the website for the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture.  All of us at PASA, our board, staff and over 5,000 members are proud of this organization, its history and its very relevant mission for today’s complicated world.  Not a day goes by when we are forgetful of our intent to promote profitable farms that produce healthy food for all people while respecting the natural environment.  

We want to help you learn more about sustainable farming and food systems, whether you are a farmer, food/farm-related business owner, researcher or just a person who appreciates wholesomely grown, nutritious food.  Please take a look at our popular Farm-Based Education field days and workshops, our annual Farming for the Future conference (one of the largest of its kind in the country), our many good food Harvest Dinner events, PASA’s regional offices and services, and the many important public policy issues we are working on at all times.  If you don’t find what you’re looking for, just give us a call in the Millheim office – 814-349-9856. 

At PASA, we believe the time has come for a massive reorganization and rejuvenation of agricultural practices to help address some of our society’s most difficult challenges, including global warming, chronic disease, energy shortages and an economic system that has run amuck with risky debt and investment schemes.  As Wendell Berry once said, “Eating is an agricultural act,” and so also do we believe that your participation with PASA will help to bring the agricultural solutions that together we all crave as much as good food itself.
