Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture

Resources You Can Use
PASA has a large, wide variety collection of tools and publications available for your use in promoting the cause. The following list gives a description of some of them, information on availability and cost (if any).

~ PASA Passages
PASSAGES is the newsletter of the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA). Published six times a year, PASSAGES serves farmer and non-farmer members of the organization as well as readers from cooperative extension, agri-business, and consumer and environmental organizations. PASSAGES combines hands-on technical information of immediate use to farmers and growers with thought-provoking articles and ideas for rural and urban readers. A calendar of events, classified ads, letters and editorials round out the newsletter which varies from 24 to 32 pages per issue. Circulation is approximately 2,500. This bimonthly publication is free to members and sample copies can be sent to others. Back issues are available; please call for availability.

~Grant Resources

~PASA Membership Materials Available
PASA draws its strength from the collective energy, vision and dedication of each and every member. We ask our members to help us reach out to new audiences in your region in an effort to increase membership. These tools are available to help "spread the word" about PASA:

  • PASA PowerPoint to be used to present to groups in your area. This presentation highlights the state of agriculture & how actions to support sustainable agriculture and PASA can help change the course of our future.
  • PASA Brochures & Holder are useful to pass out at farmers' markets, friends & neighbors or display at your business. We have developed two new brochures geared towards our largest audiences - farmers and consumers.

For more information on any of these items, please contact Michele Gauger at PASA headquarters by writing michele@pasafarming.org or by calling (814) 349-9856.

~CSA Resource
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) offers community members the opportunity to support local farmers by purchasing shares in the farming enterprise. This exchange enables consumers to know how and where their food is being produced and provides farmers capital necessary for production. CSA participants support local food production by sharing both the bounty and the risks inherent in farming.

PASA actively supports and promotes CSA in a number of ways. We publish a list of active CSA's throughout Pennsylvania, and take an active lead in promoting the CSA North America Conference. PASA has offered scholarships to this conference in the past.

For a full list of CSA farms in Pennsylvania, check out the Robyn Van En Center website at www.csacenter.org.
