Claire and Rusty Orner, Quiet Creek Herb Farm & School of Country Living
Back by popular demand! Do you want to feed your family fresh, homemade cheese and yogurt? Are you considering incorporating value-added dairy to your farm business? In this daylong intensive workshop you will learn the basics of making cheese with just a few ingredients and your kitchen stove. Participants will make hard and soft cheeses from start to finish including cheddar, mozzerella, ricotta, and fromagina (a great spreadable cheese). We will also learn to make yogurt. The Orners will demonstrate smoking and adding herbs to cheeses, and proper sanitation and storage methods. Participants will take home starter culture for fromagina and yogurt. The Orners will prepare a nutritious homegrown lunch with produce from their farm.
The group size for this workshop is limited to 30 people to facilitate focused learning.
