Growing for a Growing CSA
Dillner Family Farm - Gibsonia, Allegheny County
Thursday, May 21
10:00am—3:00pm
$15 PASA Members, $25 all others. Lunch will be provided.
This field day is sponsored in part by Haygrove Tunnels.
Jane and Donald Dillner are growing for their community, selling over 110 varieties of fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs from their on-farm market and at several Pittsburgh area farmers markets, as well as through their growing CSA program. Though they augment their offerings with blueberries and orchard fruit, their high tunnels and greenhouses are key, extending their growing season by four weeks each in spring and fall! Come tour the farm: we’ll check out the remodeled barn/farm market and see the packing & grading area as well as the CSA distribution setup. We’ll spend plenty of time discussing the benefits of IPM and pesticide reduction practices as we tour the high tunnels, including the Haygrove they put up this spring a to accommodate their expanding tomato production. A Haygrove representative will be on hand to answer questions about the new tunnel and innovations in tunnel technology.

The Dillners practice sustainable agriculture on their 3rd generation family-owned fruit and vegetable farm in operation since the 1940’s. They have six high tunnels and a greenhouse on their 200 acre farm, and sell their produce in season at 5 farmers markets as well through their expanding CSA.
