Local Food Diner Tool Kit

Organizing an event featuring locally grown food can be a very rewarding experience! PASA wants to help you save time and energy.  It is important not to underestimate the value of good advertising to get folks to your event. Equally important is having good educational materials and a unique memento that folks can take away from the event.  That’s why we’ve created these five helpful tools.  To save time and frustration, just click and print!

Use this tri-fold to advertise your event.  Includes two places for you to write the date, time, and place of your event.  Also features a fun Food Quiz to get your audience thinking!

Same as Local Food Lunch Table Tent Announcement except it says ‘Dinner!’

Be sure you have permission to place table tents around campus.  Dining services may require you reserve table tent space weeks in advance.  Other locations, like libraries and student unions, may require you get table tents stamped for approval before placing.

Simply print one copy and fill in missing information by hand (neatly!).  We recommend you add your organization or event name in the white space on the center panel. You’ll want to make sure you get any stamps needed for approved posting from school/town authorities on your master copy.  Then make copies on colorful paper as needed, fold along dotted lines, and staple or tape loose edges together to make a self-standing three sided table tent.

Place this poster around campus to advertise your Local Food Event.

We recommend you add your organization or event name in the white space below the spatula.

Print a copy and fill in the date, time, and place of your event.  Make copies on colorful paper and distribute widely.

Use this tri-fold on the day of your event. Each panel contains interesting facts and helpful tips on how consumers can contribute to a healthy food system.

Simply print one copy and add any additional information you’d like (i.e. your organization or event name).  Then make copies as needed, fold along dotted lines, and staple or tape loose edges together to make a self-standing three sided table tent.

This unique keepsake was created by Melissa Long, a graduate student at Slippery Rock University.  This modified version is reprinted with permission from the College of Health, Environment, and Sciences at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.

This is an excellent give-away item for guests attending your local food event.  If you want to use it as an incentive, one idea is to give a “free cookbook” to the first 100 diners. Alternatively, you might ask diners to fill out an exit survey to receive a complimentary cookbook.  Or just be generous and make copies for everyone!

Print the entire document.  Please note the blank half pages; you may wish to use this space to add your organization or event name, or recognize farmers, donors or sponsor of your event.  Once you have added your information to the document, you will need to stack the pages from top to bottom in the following order (to halves per page): cover sheet and back page, pages 2 and blank, pages blank and 3, pages 4 and blank, pages 24 and 5, pages 6 and 23, pages 22 and 7, pages 8 and 21, pages 20 and 9, pages 10 and 19, pages 18 and 11, pages 12 and 17, pages 16 and 13, pages 14 and 15.  Print one double-sided copy of these pages in this order.  Check your first set: if you fold the pages in half, you should have a cookbook.  Congratulations!  Make the remaining copies.
