BFBL Partner Event - 3rd Annual Farm to City Dinner

Join us as we celebrate the harvest season with the 3rd annual Farm To City Dinner in York, PA! Food and drink are supplied by local farms, ranches, orchards, dairies, vineyards, breweries and kitchens. This is THE annual fundraiser for York Buy Fresh Buy Local. We shut down Beaver Street for a beautiful afternoon of food, drink, laughter, friends and neighbors. Tickets are available individually and by the table. With each seat, you’ll receive a family style meal, two complimentary drink tickets, access to the silent auction, and a wonderful event.

PA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) invites conservation partners to attend a soil health and grazing management learning event on Friday, September 4, 2015 for conservation staff working directly with landowners, to be held at Wilson Land & Cattle Co. 1532 Stitzinger Road, Tionesta, PA 16353. he wait is over! The Food Trust is excited to convene our inaugural regional farm to school conference on November 4-5,2015 in Rockville, MD. Field to Tray: Strengthening Farm to School Purchasing in the Mid-Atlantic will bring together farmers, food service directors, suppliers and other stakeholders from our region for a day of digging in to local food procurement strategies. This conference is supported by a USDA Farm to School Grant.

Penn State Extension & Dickinson College Farm - New Grower Cover Crop Roundtable

Penn State Extension and the Dickinson College Farm are excited announce an evening program targeted at new growers and growers seeking the latest information on cover crops. Steve Groff of Cover Crop Solutions will be our discussion leader for the evening. Opportunities and strategic cover cropping ideas in a vegetable rotation will be discussed as well as the best species and mixes to use and the optimum planting dates of each. Do cover crops really pay? Innovative methods of cover crop establishment. Steve would also very much like to hear from attendees about cover crop management that is working on their farms in an exchange of ideas / meeting of the minds.

Penn State Extension - High Tunnels – An informal growing season extension discussion with Dr. Bill Lamont!

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Bill Lamont. Bill is the Vegetable and Crop Production specialist from Penn State University who brought the first High Tunnel’s to Philadelphia starting about 15 years ago. He has helped to fund and construct 15 tunnels to date, and the trend has caught on to where there are about 30 tunnels in Philadelphia now.

Country Barn Farm- First Year Bee Keeping Class
