Event Description
This one-day, classroom training will cover best practices in produce food safety for field, harvest and post-harvest operations. We will address worker health and hygiene, water quality, soil amendments, land use, animal monitoring, and post-harvest handling using a commonsense approach to training, policies, and procedures that work for very small farms.
Registration will be open from 1/30/2017 to 2/17/2017 at noon.
Speaker & Host Information
Lindsay Gilmour, owner of Organic Planet LLC, has more than 12 years in Value Chain Coordination, helping farmers meet the demands of the wholesale marketplace. Her current focus is GAP food safety education. She is trained in Produce GAPs Harmonized Food Safety Standards, is a qualified USDA internal auditor for the Harmonized Standards, and an internal auditor for ISO quality management systems for agricultural operations. She is a trainer for the FDA Produce Safety Rule, and is a “qualified individual” under the FDA Preventative Controls regulation. Lindsay is very excited about helping farmers work together to achieve food safety certification.

What should I prepare/bring with me to this event?
Bring a reusable water bottle to fill on site and stay hydrated.

Will food be served?
Yes, lunch is included with the registration fees. The menu has not yet been set.
