Event Description
[Wayne County]      Join PASA for a grazing double feature in Wayne County on Tuesday, August 15th, at Brian and Sam Fox’s grass-fed beef operation in the morning and Jeff Enslin’s organic grazing dairy in the afternoon.

Brian and Sam Fox have been grazing beef cattle since the end of 2009 and, though Salem Mountain began (and still is) a vegetable farm, beef has become a major side enterprise for the brothers. Sam and Brian will lead a pasture walk, discussing Salem Mountain’s managed grazing strategy, and tracing the development of their beef operation, from breeding strategies to marketing. Lunch will follow.

In the afternoon, the group will drive round the corner to the Enslin family’s organic dairy operation, which is just entering its first full year of production. Jeff and Ellen are beginning a managed grazing, milking operation, and will lead a pasture walk and farm tour discussing the challenges and design choices they have made in the process of starting their dairy.

This is an excellent event for the experienced grazier of both beef and dairy cows, as well as the beginner and those curious. Further questions should contact Aaron de Long at aaron@pasafarming.org.
Speaker & Host Information
