Event Description
Join the farmers at Pennypack Farm in Montgomery County on Monday, December 11, from 10am to 1pm, for a tour of Pennypack’s winter CSA production activities and a group conversation around growing in the 'off-season'. Lunch will be potluck, around noon.

Pennypack Farm runs a 160-member winter CSA. During the course of this event, the Pennypack farmers will explore how they meet the demands of their winter CSA membership. Strategies for long-term root crop storage, as well as planning and growing a steady supply of greens throughout the winter, will be discussed. The tour will include Pennypack’s hoop house and low tunnels, as well as their storage facilities and ginger propagation trailer. Conversation around favorite winter crop varieties, and sharing information and experiences surrounding winter growing, in general, will also take place. The event will finish with a potluck lunch.

This workshop is appropriate for all growers and others interested in learning more about season extension, including those looking to refine their own techniques, or discover new ones. Attendees will be encouraged to ask questions as well as share their own knowledge with the group.
