Shon Seeley was a PASA member who lost his life in 2012, and this fund honors his life through support of educational programming specific to the farming principles held dearly by him: livestock grazing, sustainable beef & dairy production, value-added dairy processing, livestock genetic preservation, and native pasture grass management & weed identification.

3rd Annual Dairy Dash Event Review

We were blessed, once again with a perfect day for our 3rd Annual Dairy Dash 5K and 1-Mile Memory Walk, held on Saturday, September 5th 2015 in Mansfield, Tioga County.  Developed as a fundraiser for the Shon Seeley Legacy Fund for Sustainable Farming Education, the event is now established as our yearly Labor Day weekend tradition and continues to raise incredible revenue for this very special fund.

The Dairy Dash was a great experience for our 186 participates. By partnering with Mansfield University’s Athletic Department and having access to their manicured NCAA-certified cross-country grass track that surrounds agricultural fields, we ensured an awesome running and walking experience.  The property is beautifully maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District and is perfect for the Dairy Dash!

PASA is grateful for the support of the Seeley family, we are so very fortunate to have such a dedicated family in the PASA community. Their continued involvement in helping to plan and promote the event is truly inspirational.  The outpouring of their huge circle of friends and family continue to show support and their year-long promotion continues to benefit the Dairy Dash, the Shon Seeley Legacy Fund and our future generations.  As shared by Kim Seeley, ”There’s a lot of children here today and I saw little guys and girls running as fast as can be and they need good fuel.  We are proud to support that movement.”

PASA, along with the Seeley family, would like to thank everyone involved in making the Dairy Dash a success once again. Special thanks goes to Mansfield University Cross Country Coach Mike Rohl, who has been involved in the Dairy Dash since it’s inception. His enthusiasm and generous offer of their course, equipment, student volunteers and athletic coordination is priceless. Special thanks also to the Bradford and Tioga County Dairy Promotion Programs.  Their Dairy Courts volunteer annually to keep our audience entertained and informed, and they assist with the award ceremony too. We greatly appreciate our event sponsors, whose support is critical to the financial success of the Dairy Dash (see sidebar for full listing).  We also express great appreciation to everyone who came out to join us at the event!

This year’s event raised nearly $7,000 to add to the Legacy Fund. Please consider the Dairy Dash your end-of-summer tradition by attending and lending support in 2016.  It is a wonderful tribute to Shon Seeley.
