As an Associate Professor for Horticulture at Delaware Valley College, Jackie is dedicated to teaching the art and science of sustainable and organic agriculture through a dynamic combination of classroom study and hands-on learning. Leading study in the areas of organic crop production, vegetable production and managing the College’s organic certification gives Jackie the opportunity to provide a rich and varied educational experience to her students. Her leadership in sustainable agriculture extends beyond the farms and classrooms of Del Val and into the surrounding community, where Jackie services on the Board of the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance.

Jackie first learned of PASA when a colleague asked her to give a presentation about Del Val’s work in sustainable agriculture training at PASA's Annual Farming for the Future Conference.  “I was so inspired and impressed by the wide variety of programing available to attendees, the opportunity to learn directly from practitioners is an invaluable experience for students of agriculture, beginning farmers and experienced growers.” She advises all those with an interest in local food systems to attend the PASA conference and implores future farmers to “do whatever they can to attend!”

As much as Jackie loves State College and the Penn Stater venue, she would love to see the conference occasionally held at other locations around Pennsylvania, exposing farmers to other local food cultures and farms, and offering additional opportunities for new farmers and presenters to attend.
