According to PASA member Jennifer Brodsky, the term sustainable means “the ability to endure.” Jennifer believes her life’s work is to help create “an enduring local food system that preserves the health of land that sustains us while celebrating the work of growing community through growing a community's food.” As Managing Director for the nonprofit Longview Center for Agriculture (a project of Greener Partners), Jennifer is making that vision a reality through her work directing a 120-acre fruit and vegetable farm with a year-round farm market, farm-based programming for youth and adults, a 2-year apprenticeship training program, and by spearheading the development of the Tri-State CRAFT program (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training).

Jennifer learned about PASA through the Fair Food Project when she was looking for ways to get involved with local agriculture more than ten years ago. Her boss at her first farm job signed her up for a PASA membership, and after that, she was hooked!

Although Jennifer has been to many PASA conferences and events over the years, she cites her experience serving on PASA’s Eastern Regional Advisory Commitee (RAC) as one of her most profound connections to PASA: “My participation in the Eastern RAC has expanded and deepened my relationship with PASA, its members and my peers.  It has been an inspiration to begin to see the common threads of community and food woven into the work of all these wonderful PASA farmers, producers and farming organizations in our region.”
